Dermal Fillers

Everything You’ll Want To Know About Dermal Fillers

Considering getting dermal fillers but want to know a little more about why and how they’re used first? Let’s dive straight in…

What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are a gel substance that are injected into the skin in very small amounts. They can lift the skin, contour, add volume, and erase fine lines and wrinkles. Most contain Hyaluronic Acid, a natural component of your skin, which helps to stimulate collagen and elastin production to create a more youthful look and healthier, dewy, hydrated skin.

I offer several types of premium quality dermal fillers here at Flawless Aesthetic Clinic. Each have a different purpose for different areas and problems. Restylane, Sculptra and Radiesse are popular treatments with my clients.

Over the last decade, filler products have evolved massively and provide natural-looking, yet noticeable results. They are minimally invasive and have minimal downtime with instant results too.

💉 The treatment process:

After the initial facial assessment and consultation, I will know exactly what product to use, how much, and which areas to treat.

Tiny amounts of dermal filler are injected into the skin which gently lifts the wrinkle or fold, or adds volume to the required level.

Cool packs and soothing cream are used after the treatment to help calm the skin and relieve any discomfort.

The treatment itself isn’t painful. The needle used is very fine and most people find the treatment only mildly uncomfortable. I will also apply an anaesthetic cream to the area before we start to numb the area.

We will take before and after pictures of your face so we can monitor progress and clearly see the results. Don’t worry, these won’t be shared anywhere without permission first!

🧴 Filler aftercare:

There is often a little swelling and pinkness at the injection site but this usually fades after just a few hours. With lip treatments, this may last until the following day.

Things to avoid in the first 24 hours:

  • Makeup
  • Sun exposure
  • Touching the treated areas
  • Alcohol
  • Heavy workouts and sweating

Bruising can also come up at the injection site, but I do take steps to minimise this. This is also very normal and is nothing to worry about.

✨ How long do fillers last?

Longevity varies from client to client and depends on the area being treated, the type of product and amount being used, your skin type, aftercare and other factors. Treatments generally last from 4 months up to a year!
