So as my regular customers know, Botox definitely works. You can use anti-ageing face creams and retinoids, glycolic acid peels and sheet masks, but the most sure-fire way to get rid of wrinkles is by injection of botulinum toxin type A.
Still, not everyone wants to have injectables, and not everyone who wants Botox can afford it regularly and with the clinic temporarily closed due to COVID what else can we do to keep our facial muscles firm and in youthful shape?
Introducing Face yoga!
Face yoga is exactly what it sounds like: yoga poses for the face.
Face yoga is a completely natural alternative to anti-ageing remedies. By practicing a series of facial exercises you can learn to tone the muscles beneath the facial skin and increase facial circulation and blood flow which results in a more youthful and radiant complexion.
There are specific exercises for different areas of the face, including the forehead, mouth, cheeks, eye region, neck and jawline.
If you’re cynical, like I was, then I did dig a little deeper and there has been some research in to it. A study in late 2017 by a team of dermatologists found a group of 51-year-old women who practiced facial yoga for 20 weeks looked on average three years younger at the end of the trial. So maybe there is something in it?
However, face yoga requires daily practice, for up to 30 minutes per session, depending on how many areas of the face you are working. As we women are usually time poor already. The thought of adding another 30 minutes to my existing jobs and beauty regime has me dreaming longingly reopening and just quickly having my dose of botox.
That said as I’m closed I’m going to at least give it a go between home schooling. Who’s with me? You can see me on my Facebook page for demonstrations and maybe a giggle?
Looking forward to seeing you soon!
