Sculptra stands out as a premium cosmetic procedure that focuses on stimulating collagen. I use it in clinic for improving facial volume.
The development in aesthetic medicine paved the way for this subtle and mildly invasive treatment, offering patients Sculptra UK results in a more youthful and natural look without the need for surgery.
80% of patients rated Sculptra® as good to excellent after up to 25 months
Brown SA et al. Plast Reconstr Surg 2011;127(4):1684–92.
Unlike traditional dermal fillers, Sculptra operates uniquely
Sculptra UK differs from other dermal fillers due to its nature of boosting collagen. Dermal fillers such as hyaluronic acid just replace the loss of volume. Sculptra encourages the body to naturally replace collagen, which is lost due to age or trauma.
The main ingredient in Sculptra is Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), a substance with a history of over 50 years in aesthetic medicine. It has various applications, it serves as a medication carrier and is also utilised in surgical bone plates and screws.
Sculptra, is a biocompatible, resorbable injectable product, consists of Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). It belongs to the class of stimulatory products that create their effect by encouraging neo-collagenesis upon injection. Sculptra is a synthetic polymer from the alpha-hydroxy acid family, bearing similarities to absorbable suture material.
Why people are choosing sculptra
Sculptra is the ideal choice for patients who want a gentle and long lasting treatment. This non-invasive injectable procedure stimulates collagen production, effectively softening lines, wrinkles, enhancing facial volume, and refining facial contours as well as:

Sculptra UK is used on most parts of the face. (except on the forehead, under eyes and above the lips). Common areas of use include cheeks, temples, infra-malar region, chin, pre jowl sulcus, and marionette lines.
The innovative science behind Sculptra promotes regeneration of the patient’s collagen, setting it apart from traditional fillers. The naturally appearing results last from 2 to 5 years.

Who is Sculptra for?
Sculptra is a treatment option for people of different ages. Those wishing to improve; the appearance of sunken cheeks, deep wrinkles, deep folds around the mouth and nose, facial asymmetry, facial scars, deep acne scars and loose skin.
In the 20s: | Collagen production has already slowed down and then will be dormant. This is an ideal time to start Sculptra to keep the collagen reserves active and for skin tightening. |
In the 30s/ 40s: | Sculptra is ideal for long lasting lines and wrinkle correction. It will enhance cheek volume and stimulates collagen in a natural way. |
In the 50s and onward: | Sculptra is ideal to restore facial contours and volume. It corrects facial laxity and improves the jaw line and other areas. Patients achieve full face lifting without the need for aggressive surgery with the results lasting up to 5 years. |
A review at our clinic showed that improvements which are obtained with Sculptra will last for up to 2-5 years. Treatment consists of 2 to 4 sessions and last up to half an hour; usually 2-3 weeks apart with no ‘downtime’.
How to plan for Sculptra
Sculptra requires careful patient education, Because it is administered in three or more sessions, this covers a 3 month period or more. Ultimate results are achieved over a 4 – 6 month time frame. Patients who not willing or able to wait for improvement may need additional augmentation with a hyaluronic acid to tide them over in the mean time.
The volume of water in the suspension gives patients a filled appearance when they leave the clinic, but they are informed that the immediate improvement they notice will dissapear in 2 to 4 days. They are then instructed to anticipate collagen growth, which is visible within 2 to 4 weeks. Patients are warned to be prepared for potential bruising and to refrain from taking non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications before an injection.
The planning of Sculptra treatment should be over a time period of 2-12 weeks. Usually, each patient requires 3 treatments, conducted in 2-3 week intervals. Final results are observed between 6 – 10 months following treatment.
It is a special treatment that replenishes collagen, gradually reducing lines, wrinkles, and folds in a subtle manner. By restoring the body’s natural facial collagen and lost volume, it provides a fuller, more authentic appearance.
